About

Other hobbies besides jewelry making? I also enjoy cooking, writing, spending time with friends and family and Starbucks!
Aloha! I’m U‘i, the owner and creator of So U‘i Designs.
I am a Native Hawaiian girl, born and raised in the small town of Hāna, Maui. I began making jewelry in high school in 2009, never imagining it would become such a meaningful part of my life.
My love for creating comes from my late mother, Ululani. She was a talented crafter, lei maker, artist, and Kumu Hula. Watching her work with patience, purpose, and heart showed me the beauty of handmade art. During my childhood we would weave ti-leaf leis together and gather flowers from our farm to craft Hawaiian bouquets that we sold throughout the islands. Those early years taught me the value of hard work, attention to detail, and the joy of creating with intention.
Designing jewelry keeps me connected to her and carries on the creativity she passed down to me. What started as a simple hobby grew into my passion and, eventually, my business.
Over the years, I’ve been blessed to watch So U‘i Designs grow beyond anything I expected. My pieces have traveled across the globe, been worn by Hawai‘i artists, featured in magazines in Hawaii and Las Vegas, and showcased at craft fairs throughout the islands. Each milestone, both big and small, reminds me how grateful I am to do what I love.
When you wear So U‘i Designs, I hope it makes you feel 'SO U‘i' (beautiful) the kind of beauty my mother taught me to believe in, and the kind I now offer to you through my designs.
Mahalo for being here and supporting my journey! ♥ U'i
